ABOUT MARTY

I grew up in Springfield, Missouri.  I am the oldest of three kids.
Me and my pigtails, the first day of first grade.
My sister, Carol, is seven years younger and my brother, Robert, is twelve years younger.  I imagine I was kind of bossy because of the age difference.  But, we all get along wonderfully now!

I always liked writing and I always liked horses.  I rode them any chance I got. My dream was to have my own horse.
Here I am riding Nellie on my Grandpa Rhodes' farm.
I wrote my first story The Blak and Whit Pony when I was six.  My spelling eventually improved.

I loved to read horse stories.  Some of my favorite books were Black Beauty and the Misty of Chincoteague books.

I've ended up loving dogs just as much as horses.   My Airedale terrier, Scarlett, thinks that she can read.  Who knows?  Maybe she can!

I now live in a Washington, D.C. suburb with my husband, Paul, who is a law school professor.  Both my children are grown and have families of their own.  They like to eat the things I bake, especially my pies!
